Why Conditioning & Flexibility Matter for Every Young Athlete

Results of child stretching for gymnastics at Spirit Technique Cordova TN

“One class a week.” That’s what most parents think of when they sign up their child for gymnastics, cheer, ninja, or trampoline. But here’s something many don’t realize: your athlete actually has access to more — two extra classes each week designed to build their strength and range of motion.

We know what you’re thinking: When are we supposed to fit in more practice? Between work, homework, siblings, dinner, and trying to squeeze in some rest — it feels impossible. That’s exactly why Spirit Technique makes it easy. Conditioning and Flexibility classes are already part of your membership, and they give your child the support they need to thrive without the stress of “finding extra time at home.”

More Than Just Skills

It’s easy to think that success in cheer, gymnastics, ninja, or trampoline comes from drilling skills. But real progress is built on a stronger foundation:

  • Conditioning develops strength, stamina, and endurance — the fuel behind every cartwheel, stunt, or tumble pass.

  • Flexibility keeps athletes safe, reduces injuries, and makes movements cleaner, sharper, and more powerful.

  • Mental toughness grows when kids push past “hard” moments in training and discover they can do hard things.

Put it all together, and you don’t just have a child who can “do skills.” You have a confident, resilient athlete who feels proud of what their body can do.

The Village of Conditioning & Flexibility Advantage

At Spirit Technique, we know families are busy. That’s why these classes aren’t “extra” or hidden behind another payment. They’re included, because we believe every child deserves the tools to:

  • Get stronger safely

  • Master skills faster

  • Feel confident stepping onto the mat, floor, or trampoline

We want our kids to love their sport, but more importantly, to love the process of growing — in mind and body.

Why It Matters for Your Child

Whether your child is working toward their first backbend, perfecting a back handspring, climbing the ninja wall, or preparing for a cheer competition, conditioning and flexibility give them the edge. Think of it as the secret ingredient that makes skills “stick.” It’s where progress happens faster and injuries happen less.

And since it’s already included in membership, the only question left is: When will your athlete take advantage of it?
